Inclusive Education Funding
One major priority area in Wolf Creek Public Schools is that we strive to maintain excellent Inclusive Education programming. However, the costs associated with maintaining an inclusive education environment far exceeds the student funding that is generated from the province.

Earlier in the year, Wolf Creek Senior Administration brought forward a request to Alberta Education to review the funding profile by which we receive our funding. This profile has not been updated in a number of years. The inclusive education priorities, the excellent programming that is offered in our schools, and an increase in the number of severely complex students, has resulted in severe shortfall in the cost of programming in relation to the special education funding we receive. Our school jurisdiction is priority-driven and although this is a major priority in our budget it will be difficult to maintain the current inclusive environment with the funding we currently receive.

The Board meeting discussions resulted in a decision to begin advocating for a Special Education funding review by the province. This will also be a priority topic brought forward by Wolf Creek during an Alberta School Boards Association Zone meeting this month that will also be attended by provincial Members of the Legislative Assembly.

Municipality/School Networking Event
The Board is inviting municipal councillors and senior administration from municipalities to a networking evening on March 13, 2018. The primary purpose of this evening is to open the lines of communication on how all may benefit from working together for the betterment of our communities and students. The evening will also allow newly elected as well as returning elected officials to come together for key areas of discussion.

Sister Board Networking Event
The Board has accepted a request for a meeting with the Board and Senior Administration from Saint Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Schools. The dates and agenda are yet to be determined but the intent will be to ensure that the school boards continue to work together for the betterment of students.
